6th Session of the Constitutional Commission`s Basic Issues and Coordination Sub-Committee Held

The Constitutional Commission's Basic Issues and Coordination Sub-Committee held the sixth session on June 3, 2003 at 12.00 h.


The Constitutional Commission's Basic Issues and Coordination Sub-Committee held the sixth session on June 3, 2003 at 12.00 h. Mr. Vladan Batic, Ph. D., presided over this session.

The Sub-Committee decided, by a majority vote, to hand over to the Constitutional Commission the following Draft Preamble:

“The people of Serbia, guided by principles of liberty, justice and equality, states its sovereign will:

- to establish a democratic state, based on both the rule of law and parliamentary democracy;
- to warrant the basic rights and liberties of any man and citizen;
- to build a society dedicated to an ideal of social justice and solidarity among people;
- to cherish the state making, political, moral and cultural traditions of Serbian people, together with a full respect paid to the historical heritage of all minorities and ethnic communities;
- to cooperate with all democratic states and peaceable peoples, thus affirming that it belongs to the European family of peoples.

The basic constitutional provisions drafts, handed over by the Sub-Committee members, will be systematized before the next session, at which they shall be the subject of reconciliation.
